About 38-0

We are football people first. This site grew out of an argument that never quite ends — on the terraces, in the pub, in the group chat: has any side ever been genuinely perfect over a full league season?

The Invincibles are where that argument always starts. Arsenal, 2003–04: thirty-eight league matches, not a single defeat, the title won without losing once. It is the most romantic campaign English football has ever produced — and yet, if you actually read the table, Arsène Wenger's side won 26 and drew 12. Unbeaten, gloriously. Perfect, no. Twelve afternoons that season they walked off having settled for a point.

That gap is what obsesses us. Unbeaten means you never lost. Perfect means you never dropped a point — you win every match, all 38, a clean 38-0. No club has managed it, in any of Europe's big leagues, in any era. Preston's original Invincibles of 1888–89 went unbeaten over just 22 games; Milan, Juventus and Leverkusen have all gone a season without losing; every one of them drew somewhere along the way. The perfect league season is still football's great unclaimed record.

Why we built it

So we built a game around the dream. Spin an era, sign a starting XI of genuine legends in a proper 4-4-2, get the spine and the chemistry right, and take your side through a full 38-match campaign. Win the lot and you have done what no manager, no dynasty, no golden generation ever has. And because we are tacticians as much as supporters, 38-0 scores what most roster games ignore: a settled spine, a national-team core that actually understands each other, a midfield with a real ball-winner, and whether your XI fits the era you are playing in. Get the balance right and a good side plays above the sum of its ratings — just like the real thing.

How the player data works

The player pool is a curated set of roughly 250 real, retired and legendary footballers. We use only factual data — names, positions, nationalities, and the era a player belongs to. There are no club crests, kits, league marks, or player photographs anywhere in the game, and every opponent side is a generic, fictional archetype rather than a real club. Player ratings are the game's own assigned values for entertainment, not scraped official statistics.

38-0 is an independent, unofficial project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by the Premier League, the English Football League, FIFA, UEFA, any club, or any other roster-building game — including any other product that uses "38-0" in its name. Historical facts referenced in our guides are presented for informational and entertainment purposes and sourced from neutral references such as Wikipedia and openfootball.

38-0 is independently owned and operated by Khabir Uddin. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any football league, club, or governing body.
